We have recently gotten into the eastern front and have run some scenarios just to see the pros and cons of the soviet and german army, so last night we played the "advance to contact" scenario from the rulebook.
An overview of the battlefield
A panzer IV sneaking into the open square
The soviet T34 lurking among the rubble
The soviet mortar team overlooking almost the entire city, they had a tough time hitting something though
On another rooftop a soviet HMG team had a splendid view, they were causing the germans a lot of trouble
A german volksgrenadier squad sneaking up to get a clear view over the town square, they eventually got hit by the T34 and fell back the same way they had come
German SS grenadiers moving into position
The soviet platoon reached it's break point in turn 9 but managed to get their discipline together for another turn, causing the germans down to it's break point. The high discipline of the german SS kept them going for another turn and in the soviet turn 10 they broke and fled.
A german victory this time.
Next time we will start the Breslau campaigne
