Ive been the the Royal Armory in Leeds and seen what Darts look like and id say an Elephant would be quite upset it even one of those evil things were stuck in it. Does this need ammending to like Kill:4+ AM +1 ?

My late Roman Legionaries had no trouble hitting my opponents Sassanid Elephant last night with him failing 6 armour checks! However, looking then at the chance of wounding i needed a 5+ and with a mod of -2 to each dice not able to get above 4!

Your solution sounds good. Darts should make some dammages, stones don't.
So 4+ / +1 AM should be specific and not extended to other 5+ missiles.
