Tournament in Bucharest, Romania

Postby Dirkhrod » Thu Oct 10, 2013 8:45 am

Hi,

We are going to hold our first CoE tournament on 26-27 October. This summer we decided to replace WAB as our main "Ancients" system with CoE and I hope we have reached the point where we can have a go at a tournament. It's going to be an 8 man affair, as our WAB tourneys used to be, since we are still a very small community.

It's going to be 4000 pts, all lists allowed. We have 3hrs per game, with 5 games in total. Hidden deployment, pitched battle scenario.

If any of you have any experience and advice that you think could be helpful, I would be very glad to hear it.

Regards,
Dan.

Great news Dan.

I might suggest going for 3000 pt forces or 3500 at a push.

I know that games of that size can take significantly less than 3 hrs, but it leaves time for rules queries , movement of armes between games and all the usual things that take up time at tournies :D

It went ok with 4000 pts.

First game was a bit longer as we still had a lot of stuff to discuss (rules, procedures etc), but it took us from 10:30 to 20:30 on saturday (3 games), and from 12 to 7 pm on sunday (2 games). We are well used to 4000 pts, we used to play WAB 2 in 4200 pts and WAB 1 in 3000 pts. We had 8 players: 2 x EIR, Late Seleucids, Early Spartans, Late Carthaginians, Viking Great Army, Late Anglo-Saxons and Parthians. It went to the Vikings, followed by Romans and Saxons.

It was a good weekend, and we are looking forward to repeating it every 3 months, so we can have 1 tournament every quarter.
